I can’t wait for it to get chilly so I can start mulling cider and wearing knee socks. One of my less-cliched favorite autumn activities is listening to Man Man. Something about the rough sounds and vintage feel remind me of wearing scarves and ankle boots.
Here’s one of their songs that’s floating through my head.
And did I mention that they did one of the Weeds intros? Those are my fav!
Do you listen to music seasonally?
Oh my! I meant to share this recipe at the beginning of the summer. I suppose garlic scapes aren’t in season but it certainly doesn’t feel quite like fall yet! So what the heck. I’m all about pesto, mostly from my favorite spot Lamarca, and garlic scapes just make the most delicious pesto!
Garlic Scape Pesto
adapted from this Umami Girl recipe
3/4 c coarsely chopped garlic scapes
1/4 c pine nuts
juice and zest of 1 lime
3/4 t salt
1/2 c extra virgin olive oil
1/4 c grated Parmigiano Reggiano
1 t dried basil (fresh if you’ve got it but we got about a pound of the dried variety from our CSA!)
Toast the pine nuts in a dry pan. In a food processor, pulse together scapes, pine nuts, lemon juice, zest, salt, and pepper. Pour in the olive oil gradually while pulsing further to emulsify. Add in cheese.
Serve as a spread or over some gnocci!
Have you seen this amazing work by George Chamoun? This Swedish artist and jewelry designer has made some gorgeous images of Hollywood icons old and new. I think they’re so brilliant!
Some beauty is timeless. What do you think of his other pieces? Isn’t it amazing?
Hey there! I’ve been away again. And not making socks. This time it was down to business! Jon and I can’t believe that our little baby is all grown up and ready for the world to see! Our amazing brunch buddy Ashley stepped up to the plate and helped us complete the film. And, oh my god, she really made it come together!
Well, guess what! No sooner than we finish the film, we found out that it’s official, we’ll be kicking of the New York City Food Film festival with our premiere!!! The Burgerlution is part of the Cheers to Burgers and Beers event which includes fresh-made burgers and hand-crafted beers!
Come out and celebrate the world premiere October 13th at Tribeca Cinemas. More information and tickets here!

Hello, lovely readers. I’ve been very bad and I haven’t posted a thing in far too long. I guess life just happened and sock knitting happened too. Looks like I’m back just in time for pumpkin spice lattes!
While the warm weather is being washed away, I just want to wrap up the summer with these adorable Tattly popsicle tattoes. I think they’re so cute! And it made me think of the popsicle obsession post. Have one last pop and say bye bye to summertime!
I’ll be back soon. Promise!
