Ha, I just finished making a beard toque for a coworker this week. It’s disproportionately difficult to get the shape of the beard right. I spent way too much time on that. Never again.
What’s a beard hat? I’ve never heard of one or seen one, and the Princeton students wear some pretty dumb things. Must be a NY thing!

I will one day knit a beard hat for my boyfriend. This mostly b/c he had to shave his beard when he took a new job and he misses it. I truly don’t expect him to wear it in public though!
